Grace Byriel is registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and an experienced counsellor. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology with Honours at the University of Queensland (UQ) and a Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP). Grace is registered with Medicare and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Grace has experience with treating a range of diverse concerns and understands that sometimes we all need some extra support. She brings a warm and compassionate approach to therapy with the aim creating a calm space to ensure you feel at ease. Her emphasis is on emotional healing – however that looks to the most authentic version of you. This may include helping you to understand your thoughts and feelings, supporting you to handle challenges, and exploring the experiences that made you who you are today.

She has experience using a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailed to challenges adolescents and adults may face, including:

  • ·      Trauma-informed care, trauma-focussed treatment, trauma recovery from the triphasic model

  • ·      Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)

  • ·      Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • ·      Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • ·      Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

  • ·      Life Review and Reminiscence

By providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space, therapy offers a unique experience. We hope to welcome you to experience this for yourself.

“People are just wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, ‘Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.’ I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”

— Carl Rogers, Psychologist and Researcher, Client-Centred Therapy
